Society for Emerging Eye Researchers (SEERs)

SEERs is led by the VISTA fellows supported by the T32 each year. The group consists of all pre-doctorates and post-doctorates within the AVRC and a faculty mentor.

SEERs has four main objectives: 1) professional development, 2) outreach, 3) career exploration, and 4) social interactions to building community. The exact activities are decided by SEERs members each year.

Regular activities include:

  • Meeting with guest speakers

  • Exploring jobs inside and outside academia,

  • Sponsoring a booth at the Atlanta Science Festival

  • Assisting with Retinoblastoma Kids Day, a day-long festival for children with retinoblastoma and their families hosted by the Emory Eye Center

  • Social activities
